For the past 10 weeks in Sorrento I have been working at L&A85 Architecture studio as a project intern. During my time in office, normal work days included working in collaboration with project heads, Luigi and Imma. At the beginning of each new project we would develop a design strategy, and then given these guidelines, my supervisors would relinquish responsibilities to me in order to complete preliminary project designs. Projects covered a wide range of studio abilities; for example, the projects I developed during my time here included the reconfiguration of a hotel's guest rooms for a renovation, the construction of a rooftop garden, the design for a hotel's courtyard railings, the creation of a new logo for a local business, and also the curation of the firm's instagram page. In order to work-on and complete these projects, time was spent in the office, as well as many hours outside of the office to personally develop these projects continually over my time here. This included numerous site visits on which I would accompany my supervisors throughout this summer in order to document site details, as well as check on the progress of certain projects, including those in workshop such as many of the furniture pieces designed by the firm this summer. In relation, besides design work, I also had the opportunity to sit-in on client meeting to listen and document their wants and needs for project commissions. All of these components gave me the opportunity to experience all of the aspects of an authentic architecture studio, thus preparing me for the future professional world within the field.
